CLEARANCE

Waaaait For It……

Posted on August 19, 2009

I knowladies it’s a hard time of year. You want fall clothes, but it’s still hot & the summer stuff is clearanced like mad. Some stores have all the fall line in & some are still transitioning. So what’s a girl to do?

Well just hang tight. Don’t buy stuff you don’t need just because they are on sale & don’t grab up the first cardigan they throw on the shelf. Just sit tight a give it a little bit, or ask the store manager when the new line will be in, and plan on shopping then!

Hang in there girls this is a tough time for us all.

Thrift Store Savvy

Posted on July 22, 2009

These days budgets are tight, and with fall fashion season just around the corner many of us are wondering how we are going to sport the hottest fashions with out breaking the bank. Well wonder no more, I have one word for you….. Thrift Store! Ok that’s two words, but you get it”)

Fortunately for us many of the hottest trend are old made new, and if you work it right you can pair some of the staples in your closet with some thrift store finds to complete a totally fashionable ensemble. How you ask? Well hold on to your hand bags ladies I am about to show you.

First step: Find a trend you like & imulate not duplicate !

Check out some of the latest fashions online or in the window display & check out placement & pieces, trends like belts & handbags etc. You won’t be able to find the latest Old Navy Shirt at the Salvation Army, but you may be able to find something with the same lines & style.

Second Step: Don’t go hunting for one thing in particular, the perfect things will come to you!

It will drive you crazy if you find a piece you like on a manikin and try to find just a chunky belt at at thrift store. If you narrow your search you could go to a million stores & be out of luck. Thrift store shopping is all about seeing what’s out there, and making it work for you.

Third & Final Step: Thrift store it first!

Don’t picka trend and buy a piece then try to get the accessories at trash or treasure. You will pigeon whole your thrift store experience. Check the trends go hunting & see what you can find. Then buy  the pieces you couldn’t find or are not in your closet. I’ts ok to pick one or two must haves of the season if your budget allows!

So save your money  & your fashion this Fall ladies by shopping at your fav. thirft sore!

A few more nuggets for free: Try thrift store shopping in upscale neighborhoods or cities, where the donations may be of higher quality to begin with. There are several in our area but there is defiantly a difference in the part of town they are located.

Still want the shopping afternoon with the girls? Get some girls together & drive up to a ritzy city searching for thrifty deals. Then load up your finds in left over brand name bags & head out to a nice lunch with all the money you saved! The ladies sitting next to you with the same bags will never know & you will be all the wiser & richer while partaking in a fun afternoon shopping spree.

Patio Sale

Posted on July 16, 2009

Summer is almost over….ok it’s killer hot & you are thinking yeah right, but to retailers summer is practically out with the old! So now is a wonderful time to shop for that outdoor furniture that you had your eye on mid May.

I found several retailers with patio furnishings on sale such as Target and Lowes!

As well as patio furniture, grills, gardening supplies, & pools are all on big discount.  The best way to find the real deals are to visit your local stores & see what they still have on their shelves that needs to go to make room for back to school & Halloween merch that will start rolling in about August.

My hubby & I just got a large  8×4 pool for $40.00 that in the beging of the summer was $89.00 so keep your eyes peeled, even if you don’t use it until next year!

Happy Hunting!

Overstock Over Rated?

OK, so we are all familiar with this red O ,& the claim that this site carries lots of name brand stuff for less. So I decided to check it out myself. After all this was suppose to be the new it thing in shopping cheap. Unfortunately I found there to be little selection, and by the time you pay for shipping it is cheaper to go down to your local department store & pick it up yourself.

Sure there are some things on major blow out, but with all clearance things the chances of you needing that size, & color are rare. The rest of the selection I found to be just like shopping a poorly stocked department store.

I usually don’t give negative reviews, and you may be looking for exactly what is on that clearance page, so more power to ya. But I just couldn’t listen to that lady talk seductively about all her great deals on tv anymore with out throwing in my two cents:)

-Happy Shopping
